Structural Composition

Core: Mostly high-strength galvanized / stainless steel wires (or multi-strand twisted steel wire ropes), providing tensile and transmission capabilities;

Sheath: Made of rubber / PVC / PE materials, serving the functions of protection, dust prevention, wear reduction, and heat insulation. Some are double-layer or have lubricating grease structures;

Connectors / Fasteners: At both ends, there are special connection pieces such as ball heads, fork shapes, and threaded pieces, used for precise connection of pedals, throttle valves, transmissions, etc., which are the key to distinguishing different models;

Fixing clamps / Guidance components: Used for fixing wiring on the vehicle body to prevent interference and shaking.

Working Principle and Technical Characteristics

Principle: Through the linear pushing and pulling of the core inside the sheath, the force and displacement are transmitted from one end to the other; it cannot transmit large torque, but is suitable for complex paths and long-distance flexible transmission;
Advantages: Compact structure, low cost, vibration resistance, flexible space arrangement;
Limitations: There is a risk of stretching fatigue, wear, and jamming over the long term; some modern high-end models have been replaced by electronic line control (such as electronic throttle, electronic handbrake).

Maintenance and Replacement

Check Points: Regularly check if the sheath is damaged, if the core is rusted or stuck, and if the connection is loose; during operation, check for abnormal sounds, excessive travel, and poor return;

Lubrication: For maintainable cables, use the manufacturer's recommended special lubricating grease for maintenance;

Signal Replacement: When there is jamming, inability to return, broken steel wire strands, or cracking of the sheath, it must be replaced immediately; it is recommended to choose original factory parts first;

Life: Under normal use, it lasts about 5 years. In harsh conditions (frequent heavy loads, large temperature differences, and dust), the cycle will be shortened.
